Soraya Chemaly is a successful artist, designer and business woman. Her work is published internationally and regularly featured in catalogs, art web sites and retail stores. Ms. Chemaly’s art is often associated with her large-scale flowers, painted in vivid, contemporary, contrasting colors. Her lush paintings are heavily influenced by the art of the Caribbean. Her stylized and fanciful images convey simplicity and beauty and convey an exuberant sense of movement. Applying and mixing colors directly to the canvas results in paintings that are deep in color, texture and vibrancy. “I enjoy painting large, simple images that focus the viewer’s attention on unconventionally contrasted, but harmonious colors. My goal when painting is to provide clients with art that helps them create their own sense of color and style, and that brings them joy in their daily environment…” Ms. Chemaly lived in the Bahamas for seventeen years prior to completing her education in the United States. She moved to Washington, DC in 1988, where she pursued a career in publishing and marketing before starting her own firm in 1999. Combining her experiences as a marketing executive and an artist has enabled her to develop paintings, images and designs that enable her clients to quickly identify and select art, home accessories and other elements of interior décor that they love and can really enjoy living with. Ms. Chemaly’s art is available as tabletop accessories (placemats, coasters, trays), posters, giclees, stationary, calendars and more. Here are Ms. Chemaly’s realizations. They were inspired by two of our 2006 Color Trends. Inspired by: Color Delight
